1 A QUIET AND EMPTY STREET WITH ONLY SOME STREETLIGHTS INCLUDING ONLY DIEGETIC SOUNDS.

MARYAM (17) runs through a dark road, clearly terrified. Her breathing is heavy and uneven. Her footsteps echo loudly, making the space feel empty.

She glances over her shoulder. Nothing.

She stops.

A MISSING POSTER is pinned to a tree.

She slowly reaches for it. Her hands shake as she pulls it off.

   (insert: The poster - a photo of her friend)

FLASHBACK: APARTMENT COMPLEX - A MONTH AGO

Maryam and her friend hang out.

   (insert: non-diegetic music)

She dials a number.

CUT TO:

INT. PARK - DAY

HUMNA’s phone VIBRATES.

  (insert: Maryam calling)

Humna looks at the screen…

…and declines the call.

CUT TO:

EXT. APARTMENT STAIRCASE - DAY

Maryam and Humna argue.

Maryam SHOVES her.

Humna loses balance - falls down the stairs.

SILENCE.

Maryam stands frozen at the top.

Looking down at Humna’s body.

CUTS TO:

Maryam drags the body away.

Enters the elevator with bloody hands.

    (insert: non-diegetic music)

END FLASHBACK.

CUT BACK TO:

EXT. STREET - NIGHT

Maryam stares at the poster in her hands. Terrified.

A SHADOW appears behind her.

Suddenly, she FALLS back in fear.

Her eyes widen.

CUT TO BLACK.

Maryam slowly gets up.

She starts running.

EXT. WALL - DAY

She reaches a wall and collapses against it, sitting down.

Then-

VOICEOVER (Maryam)
